ASSISTANT MATERIALS MANAGER SUMMARY:
The Assistant Materials Manager is responsible for the plant activities related to the materials department such as: receiving, scheduling, storage, handling, and delivery processes.   
 

ASSISTANT MATERIALS MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide and develop Materials Planners and Materials supervisors.
  • Monitor the scheduling of incoming raw material.
  • Assists with establishing the department procedures which are consistent with established corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensures proper warehousing practices including FIFO and material flow to support production requirements while maintaining quality. 
  • Helps coordinates flow of materials or products.
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting of receipts, production, scrap, etc. to accurately maintain inventory levels.
  • Works with suppliers to improve efficiency. 
  • Responsible for expediting incoming material as required.
  • Enforces safety compliance by ensuring the proper training is given in OSHA mandated regulations. 
  • Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures, and enforces workers to follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Monitors suppliers and commercial carriers to ensure that delivery schedules are consistently met and any error rectified on a timely basis.
  • Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.
  • Develops and implements visual inventory management systems on the production floor. 
  • Assists as required in resolving this disposition of substandard or rejected materials. 
  • Ensures supplies are delivered on time to provide uninterrupted production and shipment of finished goods.
  • Utilizes and practices methods of continuous improvement.
 
 
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA) with at least four years experience in an Automotive environment.
  • Lead, motivate, and coach. 
  • Develop and maintain good employee relations and communications cross functionally. 
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse audience (customers, suppliers, employees).
  • Results oriented approach.
