How to land your new dream job in your new city Are you moving to…
Arrive late. Can you say, DEAL BREAKER? Remember, “you never get a second chance to make a first impression.” Did you know there would be several members of the hiring team waiting for your arrival? That these VIPs have juggled busy schedules to make sure they could all be in the same place at the appointed time of your interview? NEVER, EVER ARRIVE LATE. Take the earliest train into the city, or start your drive BEFORE the morning commute. Find the location and the find a Starbucks – cool your heels with a latte. IF that train is derailed, your first call is not 9-1-1, it’s to your contact at the company. So make SURE you have that phone number with you. DEAL BREAKER MISTAKE: Arriving late, with no call and no good explanation.
If you DID get in a five car pile up on the way in on the interstate? If your kid DID fall and break her leg on the way to the bus stop? Apologize six ways to Sunday and pin point a day to reschedule.
