Established international and brand name company with a good working culture has an opportunity for a Supplier Quality Engineer due to an internal transfer.  This large company is located in the southwest suburban Atlanta metropolitan area.   Their manufactured products have complexity.  The overnight travel is less than 15% and most travel will be in the 1 to 3 day duration.  There are major company benefits to include 2% profit sharing and quarterly bonus potential.  Relocation assistance is also available with this role.

 

Overview:

  • Supplier Quality Engineering position within the Supplier Quality Assurance Unit Department under the Quality Assurance Division, reporting to SQA Unit Manager.
  • NOTE :  Company has SQA – Supplier Quality Assurance Team, assigned to manage the post-production part numbers, and ASQE – Advanced Supplier Quality Engineering Team assigned to manage the pre-production part numbers.
  • Responsible for all aspects of supplier quality engineering with focus on the existing production parts made in United States and International regions.
  • Responsible for corrective action & kaizen with the project management effort, providing support for the company operations divisions.
  • Interfaces with Product Design, Purchasing, ME, Production Control, Accessory Parts for Production Use, and CKD to develop supplier quality improvement plan and manage its execution at supplier’s genba / manufacturing site(s).

 

Responsibilities:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for company Supplier Quality Assurance Manual implementation at suppliers, and continuous kaizens based on the lessons learned.
  • Responsible for designing an annual action plan (MBOP : Management By Objective Plan), based on the company QA Division Management Direction, to improve the entire supplier chain quality.
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating both quality kaizens and the corrective actions at suppliers and within the company after production launch of new models.
  • Responsible for management of DMD, OFI (Opportunity-for-Improvement), SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Report) for corrective action implementations in the areas of SPR & DRIFT Loss / Downtime / On-Hold / Warranty Claims.  Key Qualification: SQE shall possess the high level of the Quality Problem Solving experience & skill sets to handle high volume of corrective actions.
  • Responsible for improving, documenting and reviewing quality systems, standards, and procedures as required.
  • Responsible for management of developing process controls (Control Plan & PFMEA), SPC, and other statistical methods with the assigned suppliers. 
  • Responsible for management of developing and implementing quality metrics to monitor internal and supplier quality performance of the part numbers that he / she is assigned to.
  • Responsible for planning and managing the on-site audits at suppliers.
  • Responsible for developing an incoming inspection plan for the part numbers that he / she is assigned to.
  • Responsible for on-site sort and rework activities.  (Outsourced company support is available.)
  • Responsible for supplier-charge back, as required.
  • Responsible for communicating supplier quality status, including problem and corrective actions to cross functional department members.

 

  • Support members of ASQE (Advanced Supplier Quality Engineering) Unit in Purchasing Division during their PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) management on new and changed model introductions within company supplier chains.
  • Responsible for communicating management directions to all members within the SQA Unit Department.
  • Professionally adheres to all company rules and policies.
  • Responsible for management of implementation and execution of all ISO-9001 procedures and strive for simplification.
  • Responsible for all human resource management within the SQA Unit Dept.
  • Responsible for managing of all other duties necessary to ensure business success.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 4-Year Engineering Degree is required.  See below where other bachelor degrees could work if certain experience criteria are met. 
  • High level of the Quality Problem Solving experience & technical knowledge is required.  Presentation of corrective action examples may be asked during the interview for the qualified candidates.
  • Minimum of 5-years of experience in Quality Assurance Engineering is preferred. Experience with manual assembly of vehicles, injection molding and electronics are areas of interest for products being manufactured that have some complexity associated with them.
  • Supplier quality engineering experience is a plus, but not required.  Process Quality Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering experience is also welcome.
  • If candidates have experience with heavy focus on trouble shooting / corrective action practice, and kaizen in genba, engineering degree requirement may be waived.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks / assignments in the very fast-paced manufacturing environment is a daily practice, and it is required.  (Company members work very hard.)
  • Logical decision-making ability and effective communication skills to implement actions in a challenging and cross-functional team environment at both company and suppliers are required.
  • Ability to create technical documentation with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-Point, Access dBase, all other unique company dBase system is required.  Training will be provided once hired.
