The Senior Electrical Engineer will act as the technical leader for the Engineering Department through management of large-scale electrical design projects, review and verification of all developed drawings, and the mentorship of junior engineers and designers. The Senior Electrical Engineer’s primary responsibility is to lead design projects of varying complexity with particular focus on mission-critical (data center), health-care, commerical, and industrial facilities with specific focus on the development of construction documents (specifications and drawings). Registration as a Professional Engineer is required. This position requires successfully working with client project teams and design team, including designers and Cad specialists to create complete designs. This position may represent with clients, and work with other Rex Moore personnel, including Project Managers, Estimators, Electrical Supervisors, and Foremen.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
P.E. License in California in good standing and capable of registration in other states.
BSEE degree from accredited college or university.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in electrical distribution design..
Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical distribution design leadership acting as the Electrical EOR.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical low voltage systems design including Fire Alarm, Telecommunications, and other life-safety systems.
Extensive knowledge of the California Energy Code, National Electric Code, NFPA
Strong experience with medical facility designs requiring adherence to HCAI
Minimum 3 Years experience completed design drawings in AutoCAD
Minimum 2 Years experience completing design drawings exclusively in Revit
Minimum 1 Year experience with eTAP
Minimum 2 Years experience utilizing BlueBeam for drawings review/comment
Superior communications skills, both verbal and written
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Project-based supervision, coordination, and review of work for small teams of designers and engineers
Providing technical direction and performing quality control throughout the lifecycle of a project.
Initial development and final review of partial or complete electrical construction permit packages, including:
Single Line Diagrams and riser diagrams for power
Critical routing details and system sizing
Preliminary short-circuit and voltage drop calculations
(Potentially) P&ID diagrams
Partial development and review of Fire Alarm, Integrated Systems, and Telecom system permit packages.
Development of key project documentation such as:
Basis of Design (BOD) and Design Criteria
Sequence of Operations (SOO) for controls, switchgear, PLC, and generator/inverter systems
Commissioning Scope of Work (SOW) and/or Commissioning scripts
Support of overall construction and drawing development initiatives, including:
Internal coordination with project management
External coordination with owners, Integrated Product Delivery (IPD) teams, vendors, etc.
Engineering support of sales and estimating efforts
Recommendations for new equipment and devices
Review of submittal for critical equipment such as switchgear and relays
Visit job sites and facilitate engineering to the field as needed
Facilitate special engineering studies, including:
Complete Short Circuit Analysis (SCA) including:
Developing SCA computer models
Determining duty and appropriate AIC ratings of gear and protection devices
Adjusting or determining appropriate trip settings for devices
Time Current Coordination (TCC) analysis
Arc flash analyses and label creation.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist design/build sales staff with schematic plans for presentation
Support training of Engineers, Designers and CAD operators
Assists design team with development up Revit Families, Design Tools, and Design Standards
