Our client, a leader in the natural resources sector, is seeking a Senior SOX Compliance Analyst to play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in line with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). This is a full-time onsite position with the opportunity to be based at either their Morgantown, WV or Houston, TX office.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Managing and executing the annual SOX 404 compliance process, which includes control design, risk assessments, testing procedures, and remediation efforts.
  • Partnering with business process owners to ensure a comprehensive understanding of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Conducting detailed walkthroughs to assess the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Preparing and maintaining thorough SOX compliance documentation, including control narratives, testing results, and issue logs.
  • Collaborating with external auditors to address control deficiencies and ensure a smooth audit process.
  • Staying informed on the latest SOX regulations and industry best practices.
  • Identifying and recommending opportunities for continuous improvement within the SOX compliance framework.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or CIA designation is highly desirable.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in SOX compliance, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
  • A strong understanding of internal control frameworks, particularly COSO.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Excel for data analysis and entry.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with vendors, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • The physical ability to perform tasks such as light lifting (up to 15 pounds) and standard office functions, including the use of computer equipment.
