Senior Accountant – Tax

Location: Long Island, NY

 

Our client is a mid‐sized tax and accounting firm servicing industries such as shipping and logistics, manufacturing, real estate holdings and professional services. They are located in New York at the gateway to Long Island’s Gold Coast – host to fine restaurants, shopping and

entertainment. Our client takes pride in their family-oriented team of dedicated professionals. Benefits include paid vacation and holidays, 401(k), health, life and long‐term disability insurances. They offer a signing bonus of $5,000 paid in three (3) installments at 30, 60 and 90 days employed.

 

Due to growth, they are currently looking for a full-time Senior Tax Accountant responsible for performing tax and accounting work as assigned. Successful candidates must demonstrate an ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. The position offers a range of opportunities to grow in rank and proficiency through special assignments, team development and paid CPE opportunities. Hours are 9 – 5:30, Mondays through Fridays with the ability to work extended hours and Saturdays during tax seasons and statutory deadline periods.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education ‐ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA a MUST
  • Experience ‐ Minimum 3‐5 years in recent public accounting; 2‐3 years in tax preparation
  • Software ‐ Working knowledge of automated tax software; QuickBooks, tax research tools

 

Responsibilities:

  • Executes accurate and timely preparation of all individual, partnership and corporate tax returns
  • Performs orderly management of tax workpapers
  • Maintains and reconciles balance sheets, general ledger accounts
  • Assists in issues of tax resolution
  • Researches tax law and regulation updates
  • Review work within the team to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits
  • Assist staff with other accounting projects as required
  • Maintain effective working relationships with Partners and staff to review work and discuss changes, as needed, to ensure efficient workflow and excellent client relations
