This position is for 2 Pathology Assistants. Must be able to perform everyday duties related to examinations and dissections for routine and complex surgical specimens. Must be able to provide assistance in the interpretation of histologic specimens and technical advice upon request. Must be able to research, troubleshoot and resolve histology related inquiries and problems within the laboratory. ASCP certification preferred, but not required.

1 position – 2nd shift; 2:00pm-10:30pm M-F.
1 position – 1st shift; 10:00am-6:30pm M-F.
Contract to Hire is the preference but willing to accept just contract. If a local candidate cannot be sourced, open to travelers.
1 year of Grossing experience is required – the more years of experience the better.
No vaccination requirements.
Need to be able to work well with computers (understanding of basic MS Office programs). Some programs used are Vantage, Copath M and Dragon. Experience in these systems is not required.
Summary:
The main function of a travel technician is to travel to different locations and perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
Job Responsibilities:
Set up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipment.
Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices.
Analyze, gather and record test data to issue reports that use charts, graphs and narratives.
Obtain specimens, cultivating, isolating and identifying microorganisms for analysis.
May examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities.
Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.
Skills:
Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.
Basic ability to work independently and manage  time.
Basic knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries and diseases.
Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.
Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED required.
Associate’s degree in medical technology or vocational training preferred.
