Our client is a global provider of engineering and construction management firms that offers communications, engineering, environmental testing, coal ash, energy efficiency, hurricane disaster recovery, and air quality management services. They serve the power, oil and gas, environmental, and infrastructure market. Their engineering services span from power and utilities to transportation and are backed by more than 50 years of experience in delivering engineering solutions. In addition, our client provides project management, workflow, process improvement, scheduling, and construction oversight expertise for complex projects.

What you will be doing –

The successful hire will be an individual that will provide daily oversight and supervision to the Communications Engineering team, which includes engineers, designers, technicians. They collaborate with other leaders for successful results on projects they’re working towards; providing leadership through mentorship when needed. This person will also be representing their work while interacting externally such as clients or suppliers– making sure everything goes smoothly no matter what comes up  We’re seeking that effective communicator who supports the team and projects by contributing technical expertise leading to quality packages and knows how to influence a win on business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert responsible for leading and overseeing the team. Guide in all areas of project management, from planning to execution as well as assisting with any challenges that arise along the way. Lead and support the project team in the successful execution of projects, which could be multiple active projects worked on simultaneously.
  • With support from others, work on the development, implementation, and enforcement of processes and procedures.
  • Review client project requests and assign appropriate employee resources.
  • Identify and mitigate development inefficiencies such as gaps in documentation, developer environment, infrastructure, and communication.
  • Support, and in some cases lead, proposal efforts (RFP, RFI, RFQ, etc).
  • Take a lead role in building the Communications Engineering group by assisting with hiring employees, marketing services, and providing outstanding service to clients.
  • Develop and review project estimates, execution plans, and schedules.
  • Be familiar with the company’s accounting, quality, and reporting standards.
  • Manage, grow, and enhance client relationships while providing quality customer service.  
  • Stay informed of industry trends and developments.
  • Assist in the professional development, training, and evaluation of assigned personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an Accredited University in Engineering or Business with 5+ years of related experience is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. BPE or CFPE certification nice to have.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role is preferred.
  • Proven experience in communications/telecommunications engineering in the utility and/or provider markets.
  • Experience and knowledge of OSP Telecom Construction and Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of RUS practices and terminology is desired.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for telecom facilities construction.
  • Ensure that QA/QC plans and procedures are adhered to when performing the work.
  • Ensure that Health & Safety plans and procedures are adhered to when performing the work. Participates in safety training activities.  
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of project management including scheduling, staffing plans, and completion times.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of process management including identifying opportunities for improvement and gaining efficiency.
  • Must have good PC skills and be fluent in Microsoft programs.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with clients, outside agencies, the team, and the public.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, overtime, and support employees across various North American time zones.
  • Some out-of-town travel is expected.
  • Ability to work within the U.S. is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
