Lead all sales and business development activities for one of the fastest-growing specialty chemical companies in North America!  We are seeking an experienced District Manager or Regional Sales Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that also has strong technical and operational knowledge of the Pulp & Paper manufacturing process and corresponding wet end chemistry applications.


A distinguished track record of both individual sales achievement and overall sales team performance is essential. As a Regional Sales Manager you will lead, train, and motivate your team of sales engineers to help their customers troubleshoot and resolve daily papermaking operational and water chemistry-related issues in addition to helping them achieve longer-term goals supporting plant sustainability.


Essential Job Functions include:


  • Drive new sales growth of retention & drainage programs, functional additives, and wastewater treatment specialty chemical applications within the Pulp and Paper industry throughout a Midwest region that includes OH, MI, IN, WV, and Western PA.
  • Develop leads, prepare target account lists, and conduct on-site sales calls with sales engineers.
  • Train sales team to assess paper machine wet end chemistry, coating additives, and finished sheet properties to uncover needs and recommend corresponding solutions to reduce total cost of operations.
  • Develop short-term and long-term sales goals for company products. 
  • Lead the development and delivery of commercial proposals and customer presentations.
  • Provide key input on product/program pricing and competitive intelligence.
  • Serve as primary trainer for new technical sales engineers.


Qualifications and Experience Required:


  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, Chemistry, or related Technical degree.
  • 10+ years of Sales and/or Sales Management experience in the Pulp and Paper and/or Paper Chemical Additives industries.
  • 3+ years of Sales Management or Supervisory/Leadership experience.
  • Clear track record of strong sales achievements.
  • Knowledge of papermaking wet end chemistry/chemicals such as:  flocculants, coagulants, dye fixatives, internal/surface sizing, wet/dry strength resins, starch, defoamers, biocides, fungicides, felt cleaners, deposit control, coating additives, etc.
  • Experience with various paper manufacturing processes including:  coated/uncoated fine paper, paperboard, newsprint, tissue & towel, and packaging grades
  • Consultative, problem-solving selling skills and mentoring abilities.
  • High sense of urgency with strong entrepreneurial competitive drive.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed negotiating skills.
  • Competency with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% throughout the Midwest.
