The Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire materials management process to ensure
efficient operations and timely production. This includes planning, organizing, and controlling the flow of
materials from procurement to delivery, optimizing inventory levels, and fostering strong relationships with
suppliers. This role is vital to maintaining cost-effectiveness, quality standards, and on-time delivery
performance.
• Material Procurement: Coordinate with procurement team(s) to ensure timely acquisition of raw
materials, components, and supplies needed for production.
• Inventory Management: Develop and implement inventory control strategies to optimize inventory
levels, minimize carrying costs, and prevent stockouts.
• Production Planning: Collaborate with production managers to forecast material requirements and
develop production schedules that align with inventory levels and production capacity.
• Supplier Management: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and
monitor supplier performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.
• Logistics Coordination: Coordinate with logistics partners to facilitate the transportation of materials
and finished goods, optimizing shipping routes and minimizing transportation costs.
• Quality Control: Partner with Quality team to implement quality control measures to ensure that
incoming materials meet quality standards and specifications.
• Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate materials management processes and identify
opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline operations.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies
in all materials management activities.
• Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to the materials management team, fostering a
culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree – Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of materials management within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of supply chain principles, inventory management, and production planning processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in using ERP systems.
• Strong leadership abilities, with experience in leading and developing teams to achieve performance goals.
