Manufacturing Engineer (Automation/Robotics)
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain process instructions.
Control quality process in production areas assigned.
Utilize data to drive efficiency improvements in the manufacturing cells.
Analyze and improve internal and external defects.
Work with cross functional teams including engineering, quality, purchasing and operations in support of current and new programs.
Develop, write and maintain process specific documentation including control plans, PFMEA’s, work instructions, and process sheets.
Own and analyze operations to set standard working time and identify capacity improvements.
Perform cycle time assessments to balance line.
Coordinate and lead projects with engineering/tooling technician and outside contractors to address process issues.
Participate in development of standard work and optimization of raw material and finished goods flow in the work cell.
Participate with Supervision on meeting work-cell metrics. SQDC
Drive continuous improvement activities in the plant.
Ownership of Bill of Materials and routings
Utilize CAD to optimize plant layouts and work flow in the factory.
Able to support a 24 hour operation, via phone or up to physically being at the plant during 2nd and 3rd shift hours.
Required Experience and Skills:
BS in Engineering or scientific discipline
Plastics molding experience.
Experience in automotive supplier environment QS/ISO systems
Experience as manufacturing engineer in an industrial environment.
Track record of leading and implementing continuous improvements, scrap reduction and cost-out initiatives in a manufacturing facility.
PPAP & APQP process requirements
Experience in composites manufacturing of any of the following: sheet molding compound parts, resin transfer molding, vacuum infusion molding, chopped fiber spray up.
6-axis robotic programming (ABB & Fanuc)
Thermoset or Thermoplastic composites
Six Sigma Black or Green belt
