Creates surgical devices that are used to safely fragment and aspirate tissue in a variety of medical procedures.Surgical handpieces continue to meet or exceed performance specifications after hundreds of autoclave cycles and after many years of service

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for operational readiness assurance for areas assigned. Assures assembly procedures and processes are reliable & designed for manufacturability. Has ownership for project-related assignments and assures tasks are properly planned and progressed by use of published schedules. Creates and implements documents, drawings, and training materials to support operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Engineering

· Proactively work to identify and resolve production issues, field failures and customer complaints in a timely manner

· Design, develop and supply appropriate tools, equipment, processes and documentation needed in production to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of assembly, test and repair operations

· Lead Kaizen, Gemba and other lean manufacturing efforts for areas assigned

· Initiate Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s) and implement changes

· Provide engineering assistance to aid in solving process-related production problems

· Train production staff for assembly, test, and repair procedures

· Act as internal consultant in the areas of physical and material science

· Maintain comprehensive records within a rational filing system and maintain a lab book of daily work

· Write precise technical documentation and reports

· Creates and Executes IQ, OQ & PO activities for new product transfer, improvements and relocation activities

· Interface with customers regarding project and development-related issues and requirements

· Develop and implement Preventative Maintenance and Calibration requirements for production equipment

· Perform investigations for customer returned material, nonconforming materials and corrective actions to mitigate root causes.

· Identifies and ensures area of responsibility complies with current standards, guidelines and monitors and prepares for pending or proposed standards

· Creates and maintains equipment capacity models for areas assigned

Operations Engineering

· Assure progress leading to closure for all CAPA assigned

· Develop, submit, and track spending for CAPEX projects assigned

· Develop and present detailed project and issue status reports locally and to corporate leadership

· Promote a culture that minimize waste, maximizes productivity through the use of lean manufacturing principles, associate training and feedback

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Materials from an accredited four-year college or university

· 5-10 years relevant work experience

· Electrical Experience required, medical device industry preferred

· Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office, Minitab and engineering / CAD software

· Excellent organizational, project management and & technical problem-solving skills

· Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equation, and permutations

· Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis

· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

· Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing environment

· Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment

· Effective communication skills with all levels of technical and operating personnel, both internal and external, via in person, phone and email

· Must be willing and able to exercise inventiveness and independent judgment

· Ability to rapidly acquire detailed knowledge of the specific systems used

· Ability to travel to customer sites, as required, to support sales and account management efforts

· Ability to access U.S. export-controlled information

Preferred Qualifications:

· Green or Black Belt Six Sigma Certification
