The Factory Engineer Manager, under the supervision of the Plant Manager has the direct responsibility for the overall support structure related to Maintenance activities for equipment and the facility in accordance with all related federal, state, local regulations to include Safety policies. The areas of responsibilities include project management for all site Capital projects and repair projects utilizing both internal staff and outside contractors. Oversight for the CMMS program to include Preventive/Predictive Maintenance and parts management, with the associated metrics. This role will also provide the infrastructure for the maintenance training program to include Developing the required SOPs for Machine set-up, and Operation, also providing the required training for maintenance mechanics.




·        Responsible for the facility Master Plan, identifying and then planning for all necessary Capital investments looking out to a 3-year period

·        Responsible for all maintenance activities ensuring maintenance objectives are accomplished within the plant.

·        Provides leadership/direction, coordinating the Preventative Maintenance program ensuring that the program equipment alarm systems are in an efficient, safe operating cGMP condition.

·        Establish the Plans and Guidance for all maintenance activities related to building systems; steam, electrical, gas, water, refrigeration, and cooling systems with outside vendors if required via projects, repairs, or maintenance.

·        Oversees inventories of supplies, spare parts, maintenance materials ensuring that the needed parts are accessible, with usage documented.

·        Manage and tracks, overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and equipment downtime ensuring that the staying within the set goals and budgets.

·        Establish policy for shift changeovers of equipment or preventative maintenance according to production schedules.

·        Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local laws, and company policies.

·        Ensure documented guidance, training, growth programs, performance evaluation, coaching and leadership programs are in place for all Maintenance employees.

·        Provide guidance and support to other departments for improving process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards

·        Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customers, and government standards.



·        Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, procedures, repair manuals, electrical circuit drawings and follow specific step by step instructions.

·        Usage/Familiar with 2D and 3D Cad Files

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge and able to use computers and Microsoft Office products.

·        Understanding and a strong knowledge of use of SAP

·        Ensures Problem Solving tools are in place – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; providing the correct focus for the Maintenance manager.

·        Oral Communication – Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; participates in meetings.

·        Organizational Support – Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports organization’s goals and values.

·        5-8 years of Maintenance (supervisory/group) leader experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities, preferably in a food related GMP industry.

·        Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and functions.

·        Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

·        Understands OEE and demands for equipment reliability

·        Documented Secondary education related to Engineering or technical school (CMRP Certification) background required.

·        Prior experience with a union workforce preferred.

·        Strong leadership skills are evident with work history.

·        Strong safety knowledge of OSHA Regulations as they apply to maintenance. (NFPA 70E / LOTO etc.)

·        Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment, possessing the demonstrated skills necessary to resolve problems by using RCA tools and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
