Maintenance and Facilities Manager

Responsible for managing and assisting in the completion of the day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of the building/facility, equipment and machinery to include HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and production/manufacturing equipment, grounds keeping, security and safety. Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, and facility expansion. Supervises and coordinates the work of the maintenance mechanics. Also responsible for overseeing Environmental Services team and the day-to-day activities pertaining to the facilities, to include housekeeping, grounds keeping, overall facility appearance and general facility maintenance and safety.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Performs maintenance management by supervising maintenance personnel and establishing priorities in maintenance schedules.
  • Maintains manufacturing assets and facility, parts inventory, monitoring purchase orders, and invoice approvals
  • Manages maintenance personnel by setting direction and priorities
  • Performs Performance Evaluations on direct reports at least twice a year
  • Provides training and continuous development on all maintenance personnel.
  • Arranges for and manages appropriate third-party contractor support for services associated with the mechanical operations of production equipment and facilities
  • Plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including cost estimates, and inspects construction and installation progress
  • Verifies Performance Evaluations are being performed on technical work force by his/her direct report
  • Drives the Maintenance and Reliability initiative focused on Preventive & Predictive Maintenance, not reactive
  • Managing, maintaining, and establishing maintenance procedures for production lines in a GMP manufacturing environment to ensure production meets or performs better than budget
  • Developing and maintaining quality standards
  • Develop associate and supervisor skills by conducting training meetings; one on one development sessions; outside technical skills training; and establishing and monitoring performance reviews for supervisor and leads.
  • Maintaining and monitoring line efficiencies; monitoring labor cost; and other expenses
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needs to support a 24-hr. operation.
  • Develops and maintains preventive maintenance schedule programs for applicable equipment and machinery
  • Oversees the cleaning and general maintenance of the Facility
  • Supervises and/or performs assigned preventive maintenance tasks for production equipment and facilities operations
  • Performs internal audits and evaluates the organization’s procedures, facilities and equipment to identify unsafe conditions for improvement.
  • Works in conjunction with the Safety Manager and the HR department to lead incident investigations; identifying root cause and develops/monitors action plans to prevent recurrence
  • Participates in the training of employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations for health and safety.
  • Enforces sound safety and housekeeping practices in accordance to policies and applicable laws
  • Prepares budgets and secures estimates and cost quotes as needed. Operates within the budget regarding the expenses for environmental services supplies and facilities related services.
  • Perform other duties as may be required in meeting company objectives

  • Communicate effectively with other department within the organization and function within a team environment

Minimum Requirements :

A working knowledge from a cGMP or pharmaceutical environment. Strong mechanical aptitude, and a working knowledge of electrical, and mechanical systems required. Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to define problems and resolve them quickly a must. Familiarity with local building codes and OSHA regulations. Good interpersonal skills required along with the ability to interact with all staff levels. Requires a high school degree, trade school degree, or a GED, some college preferred, with a minimum of 8 years of progressive hands-on mechanical/facilities experience. Five years of operations management in a production environment.
