INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER
SUMMARY:
Process new design releases to shop floor, process engineering changes into ERP/MRP system, process discrepancies using standard engineering practices, drive manufacturing process improvements daily, design tooling, mentor lower-level engineering staff to name a few.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Assists product engineer with design to cost
- Defines and documents equipment calibration requirements
- Designs, develops manufacturing engineering tools, strategies and systems
- Develops floor layouts
- Develops manufacturing engineering plans and strategies for specific products and processes
- Improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
- Develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
- Documents procedures, process qualifications, work instructions, shop aids, routings, etc.
- Erroneous decisions or recommendations may result in failure to achieve organization objectives
- Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines
- Forecasts and manages manufacturing process capital implementation
- Interface with Business Development, External Customers, Vendors, Managers and Project Teams
- Frequent contact with various departments across the company including, but not limited to, Program Management, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Production Management
- Guides the successful completion of critical tasks of programs and projects
- Identifies training for production related activities
- Implements and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects
- Installs manufacturing process systems and conducts production qualification, forecasts and manages manufacturing process capital assets
- Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products
- Is a subject matter expert (SME) in at least one discipline/field and possesses working knowledge in multiple adjacent disciplines/fields
- Leads quality initiatives using six sigma methodology to determine extent of non-conformance root cause, and corrective action
- Leads small technical proposals and contributes to medium sized proposals
- Leads technical tasks for medium teams or projects
- Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
- May function in a project leadership role
- May supervise or manage lower level employees
- Monitors and controls of process parameters, and identification of special processes and need for SPC
- Monitors competitive benchmarks to ensure that current processes and equipment are competitive and cost effective
- Provides operations support to proposals (e.g. schedule, rationale and labor)
- Provides process analysis to support new business (NPI) opportunity assessment and quoting
- Provides resolution to a diverse range of complex problems which require the use of ingenuity and creativity
- Provides solutions to vendor issues as required
- Using lean concepts acts as a project engineer to implement cost reduction efforts
- Works performed without appreciable direction

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Strong understanding of basic project leadership principles including Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
