The Forensic Scientist Laboratory Supervisor has primary responsibility for the oversight and supervision of the Forensic Scientists on your assigned shift.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to
• Be alert and aware at all times to ensure safety, accuracy and efficiency.
• Assist in the supervision of managing the Forensic Scientists.
• Assist the processing of specimens to ensure efficiency and accuracy in results for clients.
• Provide direction by collaborating and communicating with staff.
• Create a cohesive environment and promote teamwork and cross-training between the labs.
• Ensure safety standards and proper work habits are enforced.
• Ensure remedial action is taken promptly when tests do not perform to specification.
• Conduct self in and appropriate, professional manner and communicate timely with management and clients.
• Performing manual and automated testing on biological samples including urine, blood, vitreous fluid, and other tissues.
• Performing and recording results of appropriate quality controls for assays performed. Assuring that controls are within range before entering and releasing results.
• Operation and maintenance of LC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS and other instrumentation in Forensic Toxicology.
• Reporting by FAX or telephone STAT test results to client.
• Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Forensic Laboratory Operations Manager.

Required Education and Experience
• BS or equivalent in related science.
• Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience with a strong base in technical knowledge of concepts, principles, practices, methodologies and instrumentation of each discipline of laboratory science and technology in performing complex analytical analysis.
• Good organizational and complex problem-solving skills.
• Dependable with a strong work ethic, initiative, flexibility and innovative thinking.
• Accuracy with exceptional attention to detail with the ability to look at the broader picture.
• Knowledgeable of quality control principles sufficient to maintain and advise on actions taken relative to quality control and correlation of laboratory results.
• Ability to institute continuous quality improvement principles to produce the best possible laboratory data.
• Excellent communications skills – written, verbal, and listening.
• Strong computer skills.
