CONDOMINIUM & HOMEOWNER ASSOCIATIONS ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

Location: Chicago, IL

 

Our client, a prestigious law firm recognized in the 2024 edition of Best Law Firms®, is seeking a highly-motivated Condominium & Homeowner Associations Associate Attorney to join their Litigation Practice Group in Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity to work on sophisticated legal matters involving condominium, homeowner, and other common-interest community associations while advising clients on complex governance and litigation issues.

 

Candidate Profile:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.

  • Active Bar Admission in Illinois.

  • 5–8 years of substantive experience representing condominium, homeowner, and other common-interest community associations.

  • Strong background in defending directors and officers of not-for-profit corporations.

  • Experience handling claims related to professional negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, and general tort claims.

  • Skilled in negotiating resolutions for disputes between owners and boards of directors.

  • Familiarity with Illinois statutes governing community associations and governing documents such as Declarations, Bylaws, and Rules & Regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent condominium and homeowner associations in litigation and governance matters.

  • Defend claims involving breach of fiduciary duty, professional negligence, contract disputes, and discrimination allegations.

  • Provide legal guidance on governing documents and regulatory compliance.

  • Negotiate and resolve disputes between community boards and homeowners.

  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys on complex community association litigation matters.
