We are searching for a Biospecimen Repository and Facility Manager for a nonprofit organization that specializes in providing human organs and tissue to support the advancement of medical research. The Biospecimen Repository and Facility Manager will oversee day-to-day operations of the organization’s biorepository / logistics facility.

Requirements for the Biospecimen Repository and Facility Manager:
  • 5+ years of lab experience, with at least 2 years in biorepository management
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related (Master’s preferred)
  • APICS, 6Sigma, CSCP, CPIM, CTBS, or QBRS, preferred
  • Previous team management experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of biorepository best practices, standard rules and regulations (CAP, ISBER, NCI) and IATA shipping requirements
  • The ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities: proactive team player who thinks ahead, plans, and suggests solutions
  • A continuous learner who embraces a growth mindset
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
Responsibilities of the Biospecimen Repository and Facility Manager:
  • Management of the day to day responsibilities of managing biorepository / logistics facility according to required policies, procedures, regulations, standards, and laws
  • Provide oversight for all biobanked biospecimen to ensure compliance in sample receipt, handling, storage, and shipment conditions
  • Supervise and collaborate with small team to ensure smooth operations
  • Maintain freezer testing / validation certifications according to organizational policies
  • Order supplies and maintain inventory levels as needed
  • Create custom recovery / shipping kits for special projects
  • Work with leadership to budget and develop strategy to maintain best practices in biobanking
  • Provide direction for facility design, disaster planning, mitigation, inventory tracking software, and temperature monitoring software
  • Oversight of the biorepository’s QMS including contentious improvement in line with the biorepository’s activities
  • Job will occasionally require flexible work hours
