Advisor-Reliability Engineering
 
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary role of the Reliability Program Advisor is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect business operations. This position provides high-level reliability strategy and best practices to the North Dakota operating asset. Driving improvement in operational performance through continuous improvement to reliability practices and processes in conjunction with the Midstream and Upstream Surface and Subsurface Reliability Engineering and Central Reliability Operations teams.
 
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct support to the Midstream and Upstream Surface and Subsurface Reliability Engineering Leads in the development, maintenance, and improvement of core reliability tools and programs.
  • Develops equipment and system level asset reliability performance targets. (examples: Mean Time to Repair – MTTR, Mean Time Between Failure – MTBF, Asset Uptime, etc.)
  • Ensures the overall effectiveness of Maintenance Plans and Performance Standards are regularly analyzed with discipline Reliability Engineers and improvements implemented.
  • Utilizes and facilitates analytical tools and life cycle cost analysis to improve maintenance effectiveness, optimize individual repairs, and spare holdings.
  • Develops and maintains reliability models to visualize comparison of actual performance to target and identify opportunities for improvement, gathering all necessary reliability data through multiple systems.
  • Provides functional leadership and program management of Reliability Improvement Team (RIT) as ND facilitator:
    • Facilitate asset-wide RIT (e.g. bad actor elimination), ensuring visibility of opportunity loss and high maintenance cost culprits and tracking performance over time to reduce total losses.
    • Steward programs and tools to provide system/equipment availability and vulnerability gaps
    • Facilitate and perform Root Cause Failure Analysis with focus on reliability bad actors.
    • Maintain visibility of process KPIs and track effectiveness through maintenance and reliability KPIs.
  • Steward asset maintenance strategies for equipment through collaboration and facilitation with discipline engineers, craft specialists, and technical authorities.
    • Performs FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and other focused studies to determine risk and identify best mitigation/prevention methods.
    • Provides system/equipment availability and vulnerability gaps assessment for various production equipment/systems
    • Provides barrier health/reliability assessments, focused on Integrity Critical Element (ICE) equipment to ensure effectiveness of Performance Standards
    • Develops and optimizes maintenance strategies and routines for equipment groups/packages, examples include preventative and predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and evaluation of run to failure case.
    • Reviews and makes recommendations for equipment repair, spare strategies, and equipment standards based on value.
  • Works with CMMS (SAP) system owners to ensure system integrity and data quality is maintained in support of high reliability culture.
  • Provides asset focal point for collaboration with Central teams and other assets for identification and implementation of system improvement solutions for all aspects of the reliability program. This may include asset strategy management, risk/vulnerability and bad actor analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Works with Infrastructure and discipline Reliability Engineers to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations, being involved in maintenance plan development and critical spare identification at pre-project stage.
  • Complying with all requirements in the  Operational Management System (HOMS) documents.
  • Leading and participating in meetings as designated by the agreed terms of reference (TORs).
  • Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. 
  • Office based role (Minot or Tioga) 9/80 work schedule; approximately 25% field based / 75% office based

 Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years refining, petrochemical, oil and gas industry experience or equivalent industry related experience such as energy, military maintenance, mining or other heavy manufacturing
  • Strong experience in a progressive reliability organization a must with strong maintenance experience and operations experience a plus
  • Experience leading reliability programs and projects, good analytical and problem solving skills.
      • Experience utilizing risk analysis and risk prevention tools/methods, such as:
      • Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)    
      • Strong RCFA analysis capabilities
      • Statistical process control
      • Reliability modeling and prediction
      • Fault and Weibull tree analysis
  • Knowledge and familiarity with SAP or similar CMMS applications
  • Working knowledge of predictive maintenance and condition monitoring techniques and technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision as a self-starter in a diverse, multidiscipline team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects, Visio, Teams. And SAP)

 
Education, Training & Certifications    

  • Bachelors of Science degree in engineering
  • Industry certification in reliability processes and methods is preferred
