A rapidly growing insurance client in the Dallas area is in need of an Accounting Manager to join their team and manage the daily accounting activities of the department. The  will ensure that practices comply with organization accounting policies and applicable laws and regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee daily accounting transaction processing
    • Oversee daily deposits / Remote Deposit Capture process
    • Disbursements
      • Claims payments
      • Refunds
      • Commissions
      • Accounts Payable
      • ACH review and approval
      • Disbursement batch approvals
      • Daily inter-account transfers
    • Manage the disbursement Positive Pay process, including exceptions
  • Journal entry review and approval
  • Assist with monthly close process
  • Serve as accounting team’s expert user on policy administration system (PTS)
    • Understand system, work with IT on bug fixes, reporting improvements, etc.
    • Reconcile PTS reports to data warehouse output
  • First point of contact for underwriting management on accounting-related questions
  • Assist with systems upgrades and conversion projections

Education and/or Experience                                               

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Five + years of Accounting experience required
  • Insurance industry experience strongly preferred
  • Systems upgrades and implementations experience preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Proficiency with other Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint)
  • High level of proficiency with general ledger, accounts payable and financial reporting systems
  • Proficiency with PTS or other policy administration systems is preferred
