Job Responsibilities
Develop and maintain timely, useful financial charts/reports to support analysis and decision making
Participate in month end closing procedures; draft/record journal entries, review account activity, identifying necessary accruals and allocations, and highlighting and understanding unbudgeted financial variations
Prepare month end account reconciliations, proactively rectifying unreconciled transactions
Evaluate procurement, labor, and production costs across operational facilities and terminals
Analyze logistics costs and analyze monthly trends
Sales, margin, and expense analysis and reporting
Participate in the annual budget and quarterly financial forecasting processes
Provide audit deliverables and communicate with the internal and external audit teams
Perform various financial controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley
Identify improvements, make recommendations and promote new ideas
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
Must communicate effectively by listening, writing and speaking clearly and accurately and keeping the team and management informed
Must promote cross-training within the department and be willing to help coworkers during absences and high-volume events
Carries out routine duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision. Makes decisions and establishes work priorities on essentially procedure-oriented operations.
Must be able to work non-standard hours during peak periods
Some travel required (10 percent or less)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related discipline; CPA or path to becoming a CPA preferred
3-7 years of experience with a public firm or private industrial company; manufacturing experience preferred
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley internal accounting control procedures and processes
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), report writing applications, data extraction/consolidation experience and prior exposure to an ERP system
Inventory and manufacturing cost accounting knowledge preferred
Must possess the ability to work independently and be a self-starter
